Bethlehem: Israel has revised an earlier report regarding an incident involving a Palestinian man near Bethlehem, clarifying that the individual was injured but not killed. The Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs communicated on Tuesday evening that Mahdi Muhammad Awad Diriya, aged 32, was injured by Israeli forces south of Bethlehem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the update came after Israeli forces had initially reported Diriya's death. His current condition is described as ranging between moderate and serious. The incident occurred when Israeli soldiers opened fire on Diriya near the town of al-Khader, accusing him of attempting a ramming attack. He was subsequently arrested while wounded.
Video footage from the scene depicted Diriya lying on the ground next to a vehicle after being shot, although the exact nature of his injuries remains unclear. There is a noted pattern of Israeli forces manipulating reports, often announcing the death of individuals who are merely injured, or providing inaccurate details about those involved. This tactic includes withholding the bodies of the deceased and obstructing Palestinian ambulances from accessing and treating the injured.
