Israel Moves to Revoke Residency Status of Palestinian Prisoner Released Under Ceasefire

Jerusalem: Israeli authorities issued an order to revoke the Israeli residency status of Mohammad Ali Atoun, a 22-year-old Palestinian from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sur Baher, just months after his release from Israeli prison.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Atoun was freed in February 2025 as part of the fifth batch of prisoners released under the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This week, he was summoned for questioning following a raid on his home. Atoun had previously served more than two years of a four-and-a-half-year sentence.

During the interrogation, Atoun was handed the revocation order, which was signed by Israeli Interior Minister Moshe Arbel and dated May 28, 2025.
