Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a stark warning on Sunday, stating that continued US-Israeli attacks on Iran might force the nation to halt its oil production and exports.
According to Anadolu Agency, Qalibaf commented on the situation through US social media platform X, where he referenced US President Donald Trump's previous remarks about oil prices. Qalibaf highlighted that Trump's assurances of stable oil prices had proven incorrect, and he cautioned that if the hostilities persist, Iran might have no choice but to stop its oil production and sales.
The parliament speaker criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of actions that not only undermine American interests but also threaten the interests of regional and global communities.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with over 1,200 individuals, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and high-ranking military officials, losing their lives. Additionally, more than 10,000 people have sustained injuries due to the US-Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28. In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries that host US military installations.
The escalating conflict has sparked concerns over global energy supplies, as it has caused a notable decline in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. This strategic waterway is crucial for the transportation of approximately 20 million barrels of oil each day.
