International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People Observed in Moscow

Moscow: The Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Russian Federation, in collaboration with the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Embassy of the League of Arab States, and the United Nations Information Office, commemorated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This event, observed annually on November 29, gathered representatives from various diplomatic circles, including Arab and Islamic countries, European states, and Latin America. Political, parliamentary, media, and cultural figures, along with influential civil society organizations, were also in attendance. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Palestinian Ambassador Abdel Hafeez Nofal extended President Mahmoud Abbas's greetings to the Russian people and leadership. He acknowledged Russia's support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and emphasized the need for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. The ambassador highlighted the aspiration to establish a Palestinian state based on the June 4 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin addressed the gathering on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. He reiterated Russia's consistent stance on the Palestinian cause, affirming the Palestinian people's national rights in alignment with international legitimacy resolutions, including the right to an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Office, delivered a message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He emphasized that security and stability in the Middle East depend on a just solution to the Palestinian question, grounded in the two-state solution and relevant UN resolutions. During the event, several speakers condemned the actions of Israel against the Palestinian people and their sites in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. They expressed support for the Palestinian leadership's visio n of a just settlement based on international legitimacy. The speakers also highlighted that the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People coincides with ongoing conflicts in the occupied Palestinian Territory. They stressed the importance of commemorating this day as a call for freedom and justice, reaffirming human values, and advocating for the implementation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
