Hebron: Seven-month-old infant Sam Fahd Abu Haikal succumbed on Friday evening to critical wounds sustained after Israeli occupation forces opened fire on his family's vehicle in Hebron.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the Ministry of Health confirmed that the infant, along with his mother and father, were shot when Israeli occupation forces targeted their vehicle in the Tel Rumeida area, south of Hebron.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces used live ammunition against the family's vehicle in the Wadi al-Hariya neighborhood of Hebron. This incident left the infant critically injured, leading to his eventual death from the wounds. The infant's parents sustained moderate injuries in the attack.

The father, Fahd Abdul Aziz Abu Haikal, a lecturer at Bethlehem University, resided with his wife and their son in Bethlehem. The family was traveling to visit the father's mother's home in central Hebron when the shooting occurred. Israeli soldiers opened fire on their vehicle, resulting in the father being injured in the hand and the mother being wounded by the same bullet that struck their infant son, Sam, in the jaw.
