Post: ICRC Facilitates Humanitarian Transfer of Released Detainees to Gaza Hospital

Gaza: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Wednesday that it has successfully facilitated the transfer of three released detainees from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the ICRC also played a crucial role in enabling the released detainees to make contact with their families and assisted in their reunification. Since the beginning of 2023, the committee has aided in the transfer of over 2,500 released detainees through this established mechanism.

The ICRC has reported that it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023. The organization has renewed its call for information regarding the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and has requested permission to visit and monitor their conditions.

The committee underscored the importance of treating detainees humanely as per international humanitarian law, ensuring acceptable detention conditions, and allowing detainees to maintain contact with their families. It highlighted the anxiety many Palestinian families face as they await news of their detained relatives, expressing concerns for their health and safety.

The ICRC emphasized that it is continuing its dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees, advocating for the restoration of their rights and the well-being of those in detention.
