Post: ICRC Aids Transfer of 60 Released Detainees to Nasser Medical Complex

Gaza: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Monday that it had facilitated the transfer of 60 released detainees through the Karem Abu Salem crossing to Khan Younis.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the released detainees were transferred to Nasser Medical Complex, and the ICRC helped restore contact and reunite them with their families. The organization noted that it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees through this mechanism since 2023.

The ICRC highlighted its inability to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, urging for information on the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and access to visit them. It emphasized that international humanitarian law mandates that detainees be treated humanely, held in appropriate conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families.

The organization noted that many Palestinian families continue to await information about their detained relatives, amid growing concerns for their health and well-being. The ICRC affirmed its commitment to ongoing dialogue with Israeli occupation authorities, with the aim of resuming visits to all Palestinian detainees.
