Gaza Strip: The Government Operations Room for Emergency Interventions in the Southern Governorates (Gaza Strip) has reiterated its urgent appeal for the immediate reopening of border crossings to permit the unrestricted entry of all humanitarian aid, particularly fuel, which remains critical for sustaining the health sector and other vital services in Gaza. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Government Operations Room issued a statement on Tuesday evening emphasizing that the fuel blockade, now entering its 100th consecutive day, threatens to bring humanitarian operations to a complete standstill. The ongoing shortage poses a direct and severe risk to essential sectors, including health, water, food supply, and telecommunications infrastructure. The statement condemned the persistent siege as a blatant violation of fundamental principles of international humanitarian law. The Government Operations Room also commended the Palestinian government's sustained efforts to safeguard th e educational process in Gaza despite the extraordinary challenges confronting the Strip. It was noted that approximately 16,607 students have been killed since the onset of Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, including 137 students in the West Bank. Additionally, more than 26,271 students have been injured. At the start of the current academic year, nearly 400,000 students were enrolled in education programs across the Gaza Strip. However, the renewed Israeli aggression on March 18, 2025, has deprived over half of these students of the opportunity to continue their education, reducing the number of attending students to approximately 137,000. The Government Operations Room called upon the international community to intensify pressure for the immediate lifting of restrictions on humanitarian aid, stressing that the continuation of the blockade only serves to deepen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
