Government Communications Center Issues Weekly Report on Key Developments in Palestine

Gaza: The Palestinian Government Communication Center has released its weekly report on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, highlighting severe issues affecting the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Israel continues its aggressive actions against the Palestinian people in Gaza with widespread bombardment, an ongoing blockade, and the deliberate use of starvation and water deprivation as tools of warfare. The report underscores the militarization of 'humanitarian aid,' noting that distribution points have become perilous, with numerous civilians killed or injured.

A medical source in Gaza has raised alarms over the depletion of baby formula supplies, which threatens the lives of hundreds of premature and newborn infants. With limited global attention and ignored aid appeals, medical staff may have to resort to intravenous solutions, posing serious health risks and potential fatalities.

The United Nations has included Israel once again on its annual "blacklist" for grave violations against children in conflict zones. The 2024 report on Children and Armed Conflict by Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres records 8,554 Israeli violations against 2,944 Palestinian children, involving killings, maiming, detention, and attacks on educational and medical facilities, as well as using children as human shields and denying humanitarian access.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli occupation forces have escalated the takeover of Palestinian homes, forcibly evicting families and converting residences into military posts, which contravenes international law. These homes are turned into sniper positions, command centers, and interrogation sites, leaving behind destruction, stolen property, and traumatized civilians.

Highlighting the world's longest unresolved refugee crisis, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) reported on World Refugee Day that over 156,000 Palestinians have been killed since the 1948 Nakba. This includes more than 55,000 casualties from Israel's ongoing actions in Gaza, where nearly the entire population of 2.2 million has been displaced within the region, exacerbating the suffering of a population already comprising 66% refugees since 1948.

In a bid to promote energy independence, the Palestinian Government has adopted the Build Palestine Initiative, focusing on renewable energy and energy security. The initiative aims to generate 30% of Palestine's energy from renewable sources by 2030. Additionally, the Government has approved the National Plan for 2025-2030, which seeks to increase reliance on locally generated energy to support the Palestinian economy's independence.
