GCC’s Secretary-General Affirms Support for Palestinian Sovereignty

Riyadh: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, has reiterated the council's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the GCC's backing of Palestinian sovereignty over territories occupied since June 1967 and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. This position aligns with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions, rejecting any unilateral measures.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Budaiwi highlighted that the GCC views the two-state solution as essential for achieving lasting peace and stability. This solution is supported by the "International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution," which works in collaboration with Palestinian authorities and international and regional partners to secure a just and enduring peace for the Palestinian issue.

He also noted the efforts of the joint ministerial contact group between the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Formed by an extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic summit and led by Saudi Arabia, this group aims to end Israeli aggression on Gaza, address Israeli actions in the West Bank, bolster Palestinian resilience, and support Palestine's quest for international recognition and full United Nations membership.
