Gaza City: Due to the destruction caused by the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for about 16 months, the people of the Gaza Strip are facing humanitarian suffering that is exacerbated by the arrival of a new low-pressure cold polar front that threatens more than 1.5 million homeless people. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the low-pressure cold polar front, which the Meteorological Department warned of, appears to be a new threat, as thousands of children, women, and the elderly find themselves directly confronted with rain and cold without any cover to protect them or food to satisfy their hunger, as happened during previous low-pressure systems. Families will find themselves unable to secure any means of heating in light of the drop in temperatures at night, as the low-pressure cold polar front will last for more than five days. Some are trying to take shelter with pieces of plastic or worn-out blankets, while patients suffer from a shortage of medicines and heating, which f urther exacerbates health conditions, especially among children and the elderly. In the past weeks, the Gaza Strip has seen severe low-pressure cold fronts in the winter, which caused many tents to be dismantled and others to be drowned, which increased the suffering of citizens who are already suffering from the repercussions of the war of extermination. Civilians are increasingly concerned about the possibility of these temporary shelters collapsing under the force of strong winds and heavy rains, which exacerbates their suffering in light of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions, as citizens whose homes were destroyed live in primitive tents and work during the day to secure them with stones and wood in an attempt to protect them from collapse. Nearly 1.5 million people have become homeless after their homes were destroyed, while all 2.4 million residents of the Strip suffer from the lack of the most basic life services and the lack of infrastructure. Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, th e occupation forces launched an aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing and injury of more than 158,000, most of whom were children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.
