Gaza City and Northern Strip Suffer Total Communications Blackout

Gaza City: The Palestinians in Gaza City and the northern war-battered Strip are facing a total communications blackout for the second consecutive day, according to Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the TRA stated on its official Facebook page that due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip and the destruction of civilian infrastructure, Gaza City and the northern Strip have experienced a complete blackout of Internet connectivity and mobile service.

This situation arose after Israel targeted the main internet line that connects Gaza to Israeli networks, effectively severing communication for journalists, emergency responders, and humanitarian organizations with the outside world.

The TRA mentioned that it is coordinating with all relevant actors to undertake the necessary repairs to the main fiber line and infrastructure that led to this blackout. It urged relevant authorities to immediately intervene to facilitate these efforts.

Since the beginning of its aggression on Gaza in October 2023, Israel has been intensively targeting internet and landline services and has denied the entry of fuel needed to operate electrical generators, leading to these blackouts.
