Paris: The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) on Tuesday called on France and the European Union to recognize the State of Palestine, according to the CFCM and Anadolu Agency.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the CFCM issued a press statement urging France and the EU to recognize the State of Palestine 'without delay.' The Council called for the suspension of agreements with Israel and the imposition of economic and diplomatic sanctions as a means to pressure the Israeli government, which it accuses of pursuing a program of colonization and deportation.
The statement stressed that remaining silent on the issue equates to complicity, warning that history will judge those who choose inaction. The CFCM highlighted the severity of the situation, accusing Israel of enforcing an aid blockade that forms part of a plan to annihilate Gaza and starve its population, a situation exacerbated by the passive stance of major world powers.
The statement also cited distressing images of children suffering in Gaza, emphasizing the indelible impact these images will have on humanity's conscience. The CFCM criticized what it sees as Western inconsistency, pointing out the active support for Ukraine while remaining passive regarding the situation in Palestine.
The organization concluded by stating that French Muslims, along with all citizens who value justice, will remember what they describe as a betrayal of France's fundamental values and international commitments, as well as humanitarian law and children's rights.
