Paris: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that expanding Israeli operations into Gaza City and the Al-Mawasi area could lead to an inevitable disaster, marked by increased civilian casualties, jeopardized Israeli hostages, and a protracted conflict. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Barrot emphasized in a post on X that a permanent ceasefire, along with the release of hostages, protection of civilians, and substantial humanitarian aid, is crucial for moving forward. He proposed a temporary international mission under UN auspices to foster lasting peace in the region and called on the Security Council to grant a mandate for this mission. Barrot affirmed France's commitment to working with international partners to swiftly achieve these goals, advocating that this approach is the only credible path to ending continuous warfare and fostering peace and stability. He urged for immediate action to avoid further delays.
