France Condemns Israel’s New West Bank Measures

Paris: France condemned on Tuesday the new Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that will cement de facto annexation and settler-colonialism, according to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, France expressed strong disapproval of the Israeli security cabinet's decisions aimed at expanding Israel's control over the West Bank, particularly Areas A and B. The French Ministry stated these decisions are contrary to international law and pose a dangerous challenge to the Oslo Accords and the Hebron Protocol.

The French Ministry also highlighted the approval of the E1 project and the publication of a tender for that project as actions that are fueling momentum for annexing the West Bank. Such measures are seen as a serious attack on the two-state solution and detrimental to current peace efforts, especially as international efforts focus on implementing phase two of the Gaza peace plan. These actions threaten to raise tensions in the region.

France called on Israel, the occupying power, to immediately reverse these decisions and reaffirmed its strong opposition to any form of annexation. The French Ministry concluded by reiterating France's commitment to a just and lasting peace in the region in accordance with Security Council resolutions and the principles set forth in the New York Declaration.
