Four Palestinians Sustain Injuries in Colonists’ Attack in Southern West Bank

Hebron: Four Palestinians sustained injuries Monday evening during an attack by Israeli colonists on Susya village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Jehad an-Nawaj'a, head of Susya Village Council, reported that armed colonists encroached on the village lands and attempted to steal sheep. The assailants, who originated from the nearby Israeli colony of Susiya, attacked villagers who attempted to fend off the intruders. During the confrontation, four villagers were injured, and the attackers vandalized properties, including water tanks and vehicles, while firing gunshots into the air.

An-Nawaj'a further mentioned that Israeli occupation forces obstructed ambulances from reaching the wounded individuals. In a related incident, Osama Makhamra, an activist against settler colonialism, reported that colonists attacked the house of Saddam Abu Qubeita in the Ishkara area, southeast of Yatta. The colonists threw stones and physically assaulted Abu Qubeita, causing him bruises. He received treatment at the scene.

The report highlights that violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a regular occurrence in the West Bank. Such actions, which include property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, and the uprooting of crops and olive trees, are infrequently prosecuted by Israeli authorities. Presently, approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are residing in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, actions deemed violations of international law.
