Four Palestinians Killed by Israeli Shelling in Gaza’s Zeitoun Neighborhood

Gaza city: Four Palestinians were killed today in an Israeli artillery shelling of the Zeitoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Medical sources reported that the incident occurred outside of designated areas, marking yet another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the shelling in Zeitoun is part of a broader pattern of violence that has continued despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October. Earlier, Fadi Wael al-Najjar was killed by Israeli fire at the Bani Suheila roundabout, east of Khan Younis, highlighting the intensity of the recent hostilities.

The violence has been particularly severe over the past few days, with eleven Palestinians, including three journalists, killed by Israeli gunfire and shelling across various areas of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. The ceasefire agreement has reportedly been violated over 1,300 times, resulting in more than 1,820 Palestinians being killed or wounded.

Since the Israeli offensive on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the death toll has risen to 71,562, with 171,379 individuals wounded, underscoring the devastating impact of the conflict on the Palestinian population. The ongoing hostilities continue to pose a significant challenge to peace efforts in the region.
