Hebron: The Ministry welcomed a UN report stating that Israel committed 'genocidal acts' against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry expressed its approval of the report from the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel. The report documents in detail the severe and systematic crimes and violations allegedly committed by Israel, the occupying power, during its aggressive actions in the Gaza Strip. These include sexual, reproductive, and other forms of gender-based violence used as tools to suppress, humiliate, and undermine the dignity of the Palestinian people.
The Ministry emphasized the significance of the report's conclusions, highlighting the addition of Israel's actions to a long list of unbearable violations and crimes inflicted on the Palestinian people since the Nakba. It noted that the suffering experienced by Palestinians is intolerable, urging that those responsible be held accountable.
The Ministry commended the Commission of Inquiry for its persistent efforts to deliver justice and reveal the truth. It stressed the importance of protecting the Commission to ensure its continued work without being subject to politically motivated pressures or credibility challenges.
The Ministry called on the international community to support the Commission, adhere to the report's conclusions and recommendations, and reject any attempts to undermine its work. Such attempts, it claimed, would grant Israel impunity and could be seen as complicity in the crime of genocide, potentially encouraging further severe violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws.
Furthermore, the Ministry urged all states, international organizations, and civil society organizations to back the Commission of Inquiry and its mandate, implement its recommendations, and end the policy of impunity granted to Israel. It also called for stringent legal, diplomatic, and economic measures to hold perpetrators accountable, ensure Israel's compliance with international law, and guarantee protection and justice for victims.
