Hebron: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the killing of a seven-month-old Palestinian infant by Israeli occupation forces in Hebron. The incident occurred on Friday evening when Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on a Palestinian civilian vehicle, which was fully stopped in the Wadi al-Hariya area, resulting in the infant's death and injuries to his parents.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the ministry emphasized that this act constitutes an extrajudicial execution and highlights the ongoing targeting of Palestinian civilians, including children. This incident, they stated, is in blatant violation of international humanitarian law and fundamental humanitarian principles. The ministry called for Israel and its institutions to be held accountable under United Nations mechanisms established for addressing grave violations against children in armed conflicts.
The ministry underscored the systematic nature of such crimes, attributing it to the impunity enjoyed by those responsible, which they argue enables further acts of violence and forced displacement across occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. The ministry demanded that the Israeli government be held fully accountable for the crime and urged the international community, United Nations bodies, and relevant international courts to take immediate action to ensure accountability and provide protection for Palestinian children and people.
In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its ongoing political, legal, and diplomatic efforts to pursue justice for such crimes on international platforms. They reiterated their commitment to protecting the Palestinian people from systematic targeting and advancing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders.
