European Parliament Members Don Red Shirts to Support Gaza

Strasbourg: Dozens of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) wore red shirts today to express solidarity with the Gaza Strip and to condemn Israel's ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people. This symbolic gesture took place during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, shortly before European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivered her speech.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, MEPs from the Socialist and Democrats group, the Greens, and the Left participated in the protest. They held red ribbons to symbolize what they describe as Israel's crossing of all red lines in Gaza. In addition to the red shirts, some members wore badges shaped like watermelons, featuring the colors of the Palestinian flag. This was a further expression of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a condemnation of the silence over the occupation's aggression and ongoing genocidal war.
