European Commissioner Šuica Attends High-Level Conference on Two-State Solution for Palestine

Brussels: European Commissioner Šuica is attending a high-level conference focused on the two-state solution for Palestine, where she is set to meet key international leaders including United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan bin Al-Saud, and Florian Hahn, State Minister at the Foreign Office of Germany.

According to European Union, Commissioner Šuica will underscore the European Union's steadfast commitment to a two-state solution, emphasizing it as the sole path toward achieving a just, lasting, and sustainable peace in the region. She will highlight the EU's ongoing initiatives to mitigate the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reiterate support for a reformed Palestinian Authority as the recognized governing entity of a prospective Palestinian state. Additionally, the Commissioner will engage in discussions on post-conflict recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The European Commission has allocated €30 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as part of this year's Comprehensive Support Programme for Palestine. This funding aims to assist with the payment of salaries for teachers and medical staff, marking the second tranche of the annual allocation to support UNRWA's operations.
