Cairo: The European Union welcomed the Arab Recovery and Reconstruction Plan adopted by the emergency Arab Summit in Cairo. The Union added in a statement today that this plan represents a serious basis for discussions on the future of the Gaza Strip and the Union will discuss these ideas with its Arab partners.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the European Union emphasized the necessity for any future plan for Gaza to offer reliable solutions concerning reconstruction, governance, and security. They highlighted that recovery and reconstruction efforts should be grounded in a solid political and security framework acceptable to both Palestinians and Israelis, ensuring peace and security for both sides.
The statement also stressed the European Union's ongoing political and financial support to the Palestinian Authority and its reform program. This support aims to assist in preparing the Palestinian Authority for its potential return to governance in Gaza.
