Brussels: The European Union (EU) has declared that the recent measures approved by Israel's security cabinet regarding the West Bank are incompatible with international law. The EU emphasized that these steps are counterproductive, potentially undermining ongoing international efforts aimed at stabilization and advancing peaceful initiatives in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, a joint statement from High Representative Kallas and Commissioners … uica and Lahbib highlighted concerns over Israel's decision to amend land registration and property acquisition procedures in the West Bank. The EU reaffirmed its long-standing position of non-recognition of Israel's sovereignty over territories occupied since June 1967, aligning with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
The EU reiterated its commitment to achieving lasting and sustainable peace based on the two-state solution, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions. The statement called on all parties involved to avoid unilateral actions that escalate tensions and further diminish the prospects of a negotiated solution.
