EU Commissioner Lahbib: ‘Famine is a Reality in Gaza, People are Dying from Starvation’

Brussels: European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, has highlighted the dire food crisis in the Gaza Strip, asserting that famine is a current reality, as corroborated by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report. She emphasized the severity of the situation by stating, "People are dying from starvation."

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Commissioner Lahbib communicated the urgency of the situation in a post on X. She warned that by the end of September, nearly one in three individuals in Gaza could face famine, stressing that it is a race against time to address this humanitarian crisis.

In her statement, Commissioner Lahbib called on Israel to ensure unimpeded and sustained humanitarian access to all individuals in need within the Strip, underscoring the critical need for international intervention to prevent further loss of life due to starvation.
