EU Calls for Immediate End to Israeli Settler Violence in West Bank

Brussels: The European Union has warned that the situation in the occupied West Bank is deteriorating rapidly, citing a sharp escalation in settler violence in recent days.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, in a statement issued on Friday, the EU highlighted a significant spike in attacks by Israeli settlers, including acts of intimidation and the destruction of Palestinian homes and property. The statement noted the killing of three Palestinian civilians by Israeli settlers in the village of Kafr Malik, near Ramallah, on Wednesday as one of the most serious recent incidents.

The EU has called for an immediate cessation of these assaults and urged Israel to take concrete measures to prevent settler violence against Palestinians and to ensure accountability for those responsible, especially under the current difficult circumstances.

The EU reaffirmed its position that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law and constitute a major obstacle to peace.
