Cairo: The Arab Republic of Egypt has expressed its support for a recent statement issued by the United Kingdom and 25 international partners concerning the current situation in the occupied Palestinian territory. The statement calls for an end to the Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip and condemns the obstruction of humanitarian aid to the region's population. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Egypt's alignment with the positions outlined in the joint statement. This includes the rejection of proposals for relocating Palestinian civilians to a so-called 'humanitarian city' and strong opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians, which is considered a violation of international humanitarian law. Egypt also endorsed the statement's criticism of Israel's settlement expansion in the West Bank and the violence perpetrated by settlers against Palestinians. The ministry reiterated Egypt's commitment to working with Qatar and the United States to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian government emphasized the need for the international community to take concrete steps towards realizing a two-state solution. This involves establishing an independent Palestinian state along the borders established on June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Egypt calls for recognition of the State of Palestine and supports a political process aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
