Ramallah: A diplomatic delegation on Monday evening paid a solidarity visit to Kafr Malik, the recent target of a killing spree by Israeli forces and colonists, located to the northwest of Ramallah. The delegation, consisting of ambassadors and representatives from 22 diplomatic missions and representative offices, traveled to Kafr Malik where three civilians were killed on Wednesday. The incident occurred as Israeli forces intervened to protect colonists during a violent assault on the village.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the delegation was briefed on the situation by Ramallah Governor Laila Ghannam, Muayyad Shaban, head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The briefings focused on the hardships faced by Palestinians due to Israeli violations and actions.
Alexandre Stutzmann, the EU Representative to the West Bank and Gaza, emphasized the shared responsibility of all parties to stop colonists' violence and protect defenseless civilians in Palestinian areas throughout the occupied West Bank. He also called for holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. Stutzmann highlighted that the visit aimed to express the EU's solidarity with the Palestinian people, while pointing out that the level of colonists' attacks has become intolerable.
Stutzmann reiterated the EU's long-held stance that Israeli colonies are not only a clear violation of international law but also a barrier to peace. He further asserted that a sustainable solution must be based on the two-state solution.
