Post: Colonists Encircle Bedouin Communities Near Jerusalem With Barbed Wire

Jerusalem:Colonists have surrounded the Bedouin communities of Al-Mahtoush and Al-Tabna, located east of Jerusalem near the Khan al-Ahmar area, with barbed wire. This action aims to besiege the communities, limit the movement of Palestinian residents and herders, and sever essential connections between them.

According to Palestine news and Information Agency – WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that this move is part of ongoing attacks against the communities. These attacks include blocking roads, preventing access to grazing lands, damaging water infrastructure, and writing racist slogans, all of which intensify the restrictions on the residents and threaten their presence on the land.

The encirclement with barbed wire further restricts movement for residents and herders while enabling colonists to expand their activities. Such practices target Bedouin communities, threatening forced displacement of their residents.

Bedouin communities near Jerusalem and in the Jordan Valley face numerous challenges, including attacks and restrictive measures that disrupt their livelihoods, particularly herding and access to water and grazing areas. Palestinian communities in these regions also risk demolitions, forced displacement, and limitations on urban development.
