Civil Affairs Authority Clarifies Status of Palestinian Youth After Israeli Shooting Incident

Jerusalem: The Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs has announced that Ammar Majed Hijazi, a Palestinian youth previously reported as deceased, is alive but in critical condition following a shooting incident involving Israeli forces. Contrary to earlier reports, Hijazi is currently receiving medical treatment at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the authority revealed that Israeli occupation authorities have retracted their initial report of Hijazi's death. The Palestinian agency emphasized that the young man was resuscitated after being shot, and his condition is being monitored closely. The authority assured the public that it is in constant contact with relevant bodies and will provide updates on Hijazi's condition as they become available from official sources.

The incident occurred when Israeli forces allegedly opened direct fire on Hijazi while he was driving near the Uyoun Al-Haramiya junction, north of Ramallah. Following the shooting, Hijazi was detained by Israeli authorities.

The Palestinian General Authority of Civil Affairs has criticized the Israeli occupation authorities for their frequent dissemination of misleading information. They claim that such misinformation includes falsely declaring the deaths of Palestinian individuals who are actually injured, as well as providing inaccurate names and statistics of those affected. Furthermore, the authority highlighted issues such as the obstruction of Palestinian ambulances from reaching the injured, hindering immediate medical intervention, and the withholding of bodies.
