Post: Cabinet Approves NIS 1.5 Million in Emergency Support for Hebron

Hebron:Ramallah The Cabinet has approved NIS 1.5 million in emergency support for Hebron, responding to the challenges faced by the Palestinian people amid the ongoing Israeli occupation. The financial aid, allocated through the Emergency Committee and the Governor's Office, aims to address urgent needs and reinforce resilience in the face of aggression.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the Cabinet acknowledged the Palestinian people's resilience and the spirit of social solidarity in Hebron, Gaza, and refugee camps in the northern West Bank. It highlighted the coordination between Israeli forces and settlers in carrying out 746 attacks against Palestinians, particularly targeting olive harvesters.

The Cabinet also urged the international community and Arab and Islamic nations to address the war crimes in Hebron, including the siege and displacement of Palestinians and the conversion of homes into military barracks. Hundreds of families, predominantly women, children, and the elderly, have been displaced.

Additionally, the Cabinet expressed concern over a potential famine in Gaza due to severe shortages of flour and essential supplies, exacerbated by Israeli restrictions. In response, the Cabinet emphasized the need for health insurance for displaced families and expedited building permit procedures in affected areas.

These measures complement previous infrastructure development initiatives, including pound 4 million for local governance and US$2 million for municipal operations in Hebron. The Cabinet also extended property tax collection powers to four more municipal councils, totaling 54 municipalities with this authority.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the expansion of solar energy systems to eight additional government health centers to improve emergency response and operational efficiency. It also paid tribute to Palestinian women's resilience on Palestinian Women's National Day.

In legislative matters, the Cabinet reviewed draft regulations from the Ministry of Transport and Communications on dynamometer testing centers and vehicle impoundment. It also discussed scooter regulations and a draft decree-law on general amnesty to reduce court case backlogs.

Lastly, the Cabinet approved memoranda of understanding with Bahrain's Ministry of Interior and an international financial leasing institution to enhance financial sector soundness and consumer protection.
