London: British prime minister Keir Starmer said today that his country cannot allow the people of Gaza to starve, affirming that 'we are horrified by the escalation from Israel.' "I would like to say something about the horrific situation in Gaza, where the level of suffering innocent children being bombed again is utterly intolerable," Starmer said in a speech at the British House of Commons. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, he renewed his call for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza, referring to the joint statement issued by Britain, France, and Canada on Monday. Starmer stressed that the Israeli government's statement that it would only allow essential aid into Gaza is 'totally and utterly inadequate." He referred to the situation in the West Bank, reiterating his country's opposition to settlements in the West Bank, demanding a significant increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza. Earlier today, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced the suspension of negotiations on a new free trade agreement with Israel.
