Post: Belgium Criticizes US Sanctions on International Criminal Court

Brussels:Belgium's Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot has voiced strong opposition to the United States' sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC).

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, Prevot expressed his condemnation on Friday, emphasizing that the US move undermines the ICC's efforts to deliver justice to victims and allows perpetrators of serious crimes to evade accountability.

Prevot announced that Belgium would initiate discussions among EU foreign affairs ministers and at the upcoming European Council meeting to bolster support for the ICC. He emphasized the need for concrete protection measures, asserting that the Court's independence should not be compromised by the subjects of its investigations.

He also called for the activation of the EU Blocking Statute to shield the ICC and its supporters, advocating for the EU's right to uphold international law free from external sanctions.
