al-Taybeh:Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot has condemned an attack by colonists on European diplomats in the village of al-Taybeh, located northeast of Ramallah. He has called for accountability for those responsible.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, Prévot stated that Belgium will advocate for European Union sanctions against individuals involved in such acts of violence and their supporters.
Prévot linked the violence against diplomats to Israel's policy of illegal colonization, emphasizing Belgium's opposition to the expansion of colonization and the forcible displacement of Palestinians. He insisted that the Israeli authorities, as the occupying power, bear the responsibility for the protection of Palestinians and the safety of diplomats and journalists. The Minister urged for justice to be served against those responsible for the attacks.
He concluded by highlighting the necessity to end the impunity that colonists involved in violent acts currently enjoy.
