Cairo: Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, has condemned the Israeli occupation's escalation of violence and deadly attacks against Palestinian civilians in Gaza, including the targeted assaults on journalists, medical workers, and relief personnel. He also criticized the systematic starvation that has led to numerous civilian casualties.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Yamahi emphasized that the continuation of such actions could escalate tensions and pose a threat to international peace and security. In a press statement, he labeled the massacres at the Nasser Medical Complex, which were broadcast worldwide, as "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity."
Al-Yamahi highlighted that the occupation forces are not only resorting to brutal bombings but are also adopting annihilation tactics by preventing the flow of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid, thereby spreading famine-a crime he described as one of the most heinous of the modern era. He expressed his dismay at the international community's silence on the issue.
The Arab Parliament's Speaker urged the United Nations, the European Union, the International Federation of Journalists, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by pressuring the occupation to de-escalate, cease hostilities, and initiate a truce agreement. He described the ongoing international silence as "a stain on humanity."
Al-Yamahi called for the immediate suspension of the occupation by all international organizations, viewing it as a breach of international principles and laws. He advocated for the swift imposition of comprehensive economic, political, and military sanctions on the leaders of the occupation.
Furthermore, he urged the International Criminal Court to take prompt action regarding these crimes, which he classified as genocide, and to prosecute those responsible as war criminals.
