Arab and Islamic Nations Condemn Israel’s Annexation Plans in West Bank

Riyadh: The foreign ministers of several Arab and Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Turkey, have issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent annexation plans in the occupied West Bank. They criticized Israel’s efforts to impose illegitimate sovereignty and create a new legal and administrative reality in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the ministers highlighted that these actions are accelerating Israel’s attempts to illegally annex territory and displace Palestinians. They emphasized that Israel does not possess sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories and warned against the continuation of expansionist policies that fuel regional violence and conflict.

The ministers expressed their absolute rejection of these measures, which they see as a violation of international law. They stated that such actions undermine the two-state solution and infringe on the Palestinian right to establish an independent state within the borders established on June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. These measures, they argued, jeopardize efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.

The statement from the ministers declared these actions null and void, citing violations of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which condemns Israeli measures altering the demographic composition and status of the occupied Palestinian territory. They also referenced the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which deemed Israel’s policies and continued presence in the occupied territories illegal.

The ministers called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by pressuring Israel to cease its actions in the West Bank and inflammatory statements from its officials. They reiterated that respecting Palestinian rights to self-determination and statehood, based on the two-state solution and international law, is essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
