Gaza strip: Medical sources in the Gaza Strip have announced a staggering 6,000 amputations, highlighting an urgent need for comprehensive, long-term rehabilitation programs.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, children account for 25% of these amputations, while women represent 12.7%. The situation is further compounded by a shortage of medical resources and assistive devices, exacerbating the difficulties faced by amputees. These numbers reflect the significant human suffering endured by thousands of wounded individuals and their families in the region.
The lack of adequate medical infrastructure underscores an urgent need for enhanced rehabilitation services and psychosocial support. This is particularly crucial for children who are grappling with permanent disabilities at such a young age, requiring immediate attention to improve their quality of life.
