The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) granted 500 approvals for renewable energy systems according to the new mechanisms outlined in the renewable energy facility connection system. Ziyad Saaida, Chairman of EMRC Board of Commissioners, stated that approvals were granted for renewable energy projects for subscribers in residential and other sectors after reviewing applications for installation and connection by a committee formed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the EMRC, the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) and the three electricity distribution companies. In a statement on Monday, he explained that the committee began reviewing renewable energy applications from various regions of the Kingdom at the start of the month, ensuring they met the necessary requirements. Saaida confirmed that the committee will continue processing all applications submitted to the electricity distribution companies since September 1, to meet the growing demand from citizens and businesses for renewable energy systems that serve their needs and to ensure fairness in granting approvals across various sectors, including the residential sector, due to the accelerating economic growth.
