Paris: France, alongside 14 other nations, has issued a collective call to recognize the State of Palestine and is urging additional countries to join this initiative. French Foreign Minister Jean-No«l Barrot announced on Wednesday via X that these efforts are aimed at bolstering international recognition and support for Palestine.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the announcement includes ten countries declaring their intention to recognize Palestine for the first time. These nations are France, Australia, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Portugal, Andorra, Malta, San Marino, and Luxembourg. This marks a significant shift in international diplomacy concerning the Palestinian statehood issue.
Countries that had previously recognized Palestine, such as Iceland, Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, and Norway, have reaffirmed their commitment by renewing their support for this call. The collective appeal emphasizes a united effort to enhance Palestine's global standing and seeks to encourage other nations to follow suit in recognizing its statehood.
